The Buy-In — Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 21, 2026
The Buy-In is a private NFL pick'em game for groups of friends. This policy describes what data the app (web, Android, and iOS) collects and how it is used.
What we collect
- Account information. Signing in with Google or Apple shares your name and email address (and, with Google, your profile photo) with us. With Sign in with Apple you can choose to hide your email. We use these to identify you within your pools.
- Game content you create. Your weekly picks, chat messages and photos, and pool membership are stored so your pool can function. Photos you take or choose are only uploaded when you send them.
- Device push tokens. If you enable notifications in the mobile app, a push token for your device is stored so we can send you pick reminders, results, and chat notifications.
What we don't do
- No advertising, no ad trackers, no analytics SDKs.
- We never sell or share your personal data with third parties.
- No payments are processed by the app. Pool "pot" amounts are a scoreboard your group maintains itself.
Where data lives
Data is stored in Google Firebase (Authentication and Cloud Firestore); chat photos and pool banners are stored in Cloudflare R2, and everything is served through Cloudflare. NFL schedule, statistics, and odds shown in the app come from third-party sports data services; none of your personal data is sent to them.
Who can see your data
Your picks, results, and chat messages are visible only to members of the pools you join. Nothing is public.
Data deletion
You can delete your account at any time from inside the app: open the menu and choose Delete account. It takes effect immediately. See Delete your account for exactly what is removed and what stays (past picks and pot entries remain in your pools as "Former member" so other members' standings don't change). If you can't get into the app, email sdoyle312@gmail.com from the address you signed in with and we will delete your account within 30 days.
Children
The Buy-In is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date above will be updated. Material changes will be announced in the app.
